Baptism
Jerusalem joined the mission two years ago, his parents urging his employment after he had become a gang member and a locally recognised fighter.
After some 14 months he was moved by a message preached concerning the call of Christ to ‘rise and follow him’. He recognised a call within his own life to reprioritise his allegiances and committed his life to Christ.
It has been a privilege to see how he has flourished into a peaceable young man with integrity, and passion for the work, and is now in charge of all our IT and solar power.
What a joy therefore to share in his baptism during our last camp as he publicly shared his faith in Christ before the very people he once provoked.

Blood transfusion is underway
Most children who die, suffer from advanced Malaria with heart failure and pulmonary oedema from associated severe anaemia. Many cannot afford the transport and hospital costs and demise usually occurs before transport can be arranged. We have been asked for some time to provide a direct donor transfusion service, but the procedure is not without risk and must be done with exactitude. During late November we undertook a training course to consolidate blood typing, consent procedure and transfusion methodology in line with Medicine Sans Frontiers guidelines.
We now can offer transfusion to the very sickest of children who will die without immediate blood donation.

Exam Success!
After six months studying our bespoke training package that has been approved by the Delta State Primary Care Department, this November saw the final exam take pace with a 78% pass rate which was very pleasing for all.
To have a validated short focused training package gives credibility to the work as having a properly certified qualification is important when scrutinised by Governmental agencies.
There is universal disdain for the under qualified , no matter how competent the worker so this has been an important development. Those who failed will resit in January to remain in the work.

Eye care and glasses dispensing
Ian Squire and Mission for Vision joined us again for a training camp to enhance the eye clinic that is taking shape to provide prescription glasses. Bespoke training films from Stephen Abery, UK optometrist helped improve refraction . Ian's skill with glazing plus lens edging moves us closer to a service that will help generate funds to support the work. We are the only clinic set up by Mission for Vision outside their main teaching centre in Kinshasa, Congo, and the only one of its type in Delta State.
