It's a misconception to assume that aid works one way.

'Enjoyment is not the way I would describe the experience, but it was life changing, to feel so aware of all the things I had neglected in my life.

As an addict I lived such a selfish life, always stealing, always aware of my needs, and so self orientated. The experience was so raw, and so humbling, but a great opportunity to contribute as part of my rehabilitation . The experience was total, it totally consumed my mind, and my thinking. I returned so enthused, and the first thing I noticed when I returned was that I was motivating other people and giving them inspiration.....'    Nick

Over the past few years we have assisted certain individuals to travel with us to the Delta who

have been struggling in their own lives, through addiction, depression, and loss of purpose.

Joining us on camp has given a new perspective to problems, and for many, relationship building, shared experience, the irrepressible Nigerian character and humour have been healing.

NO charitable funds have been used to assist these individuals.Funding has been out with the Charity, but recently a UK Charitable Trust, working with vulnerable people in the UK has provided funds to allow us to identify individuals in the UK who may benefit from an assisted place with New Foundations on camp.

We are happy to receive enquiries regarding this program but would emphasise the following:

  • applications from the Cambridge area are preferred, though we will consider all.
  • no individual can apply, but we would seek applications from a nominee.
  • preference is given to those struggling with a history of addiction, mental illness, physical disability, poverty, homelessness, or similar.

The Niger Delta is not without its problems and the camps are short, lasting 7-10 days. Conditions are very basic and the experience intense. We have found , unsurprisingly that those who have benefited most are individuals who are hungry for change, and in despair through their current predicament.

As a Christian organisation, this  mirrors the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we desire, and strive to see lives changed, irrespective of colour, race, locality or belief.

Should you know someone who you feel may benefit from this program, do get in touch to learn more and request an application.
