| After daily dressings and treatment by one of our Health Care Workers, this lad's ulcer has now, at last, fully healed. With full power and range of movement restored to all muscles groups, the entire area of the ulcer , though scarred, is intact. These ulcers are common and require the presence of a community worker to ensure that appropriate, and continued care can be given. |

Despite the current fuel shortages and exhorbitant prices demanded in the creeks the June camps were run in conjunction with Eye Care International and the NDDC (Niger Delta Development Commission).
With the provision of Governmental personnel and resources, the Partnership with Eye Care International run by Consultant eye surgeon Dr Gloria Patrick-Ferife, operating surgical equipment, consumables, and some staff resourced by New Foundations, 66 cataract patients received sight, and some further operations undertaken for symptomatic and cosmetic purposes.
It is increasingly clear that partnership is the key to the successful delivery of services to patients, and we look forward to further collaborative camps later this year.

With our involvement in the government run camps the medical camps were restricted to four communities: Akugbene, Okologa, Okwama and Ogbeinama.
A total of 240 children were seen, 146 women and 48 men. It is now the rainy season and this sees a general upturn in infectious diseases, with childhood malaria and respiratory disease common.
The NDDC camp was held at Alebiri and patients attended from across a breadth of communities, the services provided being free. Eye Care International simialrly provides all services free. Our team assisted in screening and triaging patients for the ophthamological camp, with patients attending from triaging in camps held in the communities over recent months.
